SCHMIDT INVESTMENTS: The Organization

HISTORY

The organization was founded in 1963 by Robert E. Schmidt, Jr. The Wisconsin based company was originally a custom home building company.

Following several years of continued growth and success, Mr. Schmidt initiated a redirection of the company in the

mid 70’s and the company subsequently entered commercial development. The organization blossomed into a development and general contracting company with 125 employees. The company was active in dozens of large commercial developments across the Midwest.

As the explosive growth of the 70’s came to an end, the organization down-sized in 1980 and focused its efforts on build-to-suit transactions and long term leases with national tenants. At that time, trading under the name of Corporate Development, the company cultivated several relationships with national tenants such as Bally Health Club, Sears and Walgreens. The success of these relationships enabled the company to take on a national presence, as well as realize the efficiencies of repeated work for the same clients.

In February 1996 we changed our name to Boulder Venture as part of our campaign to build a national image for the company. In 2000 we moved our headquarters to Florida and now operate under the name Schmidt Investments. We currently manage additional offices in Wisconsin and Colorado as well.

The growth of the company has mirrored that of commercial development nationwide. Since 1992 we have developed over $700 million in real estate. 2005 looks just as promising with approximately $160 million currently under consideration. Through on-going relationships with companies such as CVS, Publix, Target, Office Depot, Starbucks, Sam’s Club, Target and Walmart, Inc., we have experienced exceptional growth as a developer, while simultaneously increasing our portfolio. Our portfolio has grown to a partnership that currently owns and actively manages properties valued in excess of $100,000,000.

With continued support from our well-established relationships with tenants, brokers and lending institutions, Schmidt Investments foresees yet another year of incredible growth.
